We found our son dead in the car...me my husband my dad & my sister, it has been a nightmare, the driver has pleaded guilty & will be sentenced on march 20th, the maximum he can get here in the UK is 10 years, we'll be lucky if he gets 3!!! lost her 20yr old son, Jeremiah, on 10/8/1998 as the result of a car crash caused by a drunk driver. "Although Jeremiah has been gone almost 4 1/2 years-I am having so many problems-emotionally. His 25th birthday is coming and the driver of the car is due to be released by December of this year. I feel as lost as the day he was killed-most days and I don't know what to do? I don't know anyone who has lost a child in this manner-therefore they don't understand the anger. Is there anyone out there who understands? I don't get on the computer daily-but try to a least every other day. HELP!"

lost her 22 yr old daughter, Jackie, on 6/8/2002 as the result of a drunk driver hitting her and her sister as they rode bikes home from a store. "The drunk driver that hit my girls was a repeat offender. I'm told time heals. but do you really ever get over the loss of a child ..especially when it should never have happened. In this situation, the drunk driver had his 6 year old son in the truck with him. That little boy watched my Jackie die right before his little eyes as she hit the windshield in front of him. To me, his father made him a victim too."

lost her 17yr old daughter, Jennifer, on 6/4/2004 as the result of a car crash caused by a drunk driver. "My daughter was a beautiful 17 yr old girl, who loved her family and her friends. She had just graduated from high school, one week prior to the tragedy. There were 5 girls in the vehicle, 2 died and three walked away. The driver had been drinking and she was killed. My daughter had gone with some other kids to a place where they swim. She had only been there for about an 1 1/2 hrs. She made the fateful decision to get into the car with these other girls. The others said that the driver had been at the lake all day but she seemed fine, they didn't know she was unable to drive. Anyway, the driver went off the rode and overcorrected the vehicle than rolled a few times and my daughter was ejected. She lived for one day but I never got to speak to her again as she had severe brain injury and was hooked up to life support, after tests were run the Dr said she was brain dead. We made the decision to unplug her. Hardest day of my life.......I love my Jen and my heart is so broken. She was my only daughter."

lost her 22yr old son, Jimmy, on 5/2/2005 as the result of being thrown from the car while traveling at a high rate of speed. "I lost my son, Jimmy, at the age of 22 on the day after his daughter, Mylissa, was born. He was such a loving man & he couldn't wait to be a daddy. He was such a good boyfriend, son, brother, grandson, and nephew. We all miss him very much. I would like to talk to someone that has lost a child this way. I need to know how other mothers make it. I need help! The kid that was driving the car is not done with court yet and is still out drinking."

lost her 9yr old daughter, Savanah, on 7/8/2004 as the result of being struck by a drunk driver. "Savanah was a beautiful blond-haired and blue-eyed girl who was taken much too soon from my life and all because I let her go for a ride on a motorcycle (her first time). The bike stalled on the freeway, so they were pulled over in the median and a drunk driver veered into the median and struck them. My daughter and my very good friend were both killed instantly. I have nothing but regrets and sadness now for my child. I am so sorry that I put her in harm's way. I love her and miss her so..."

lost her 30yr old daughter, Stephanie, on 10/25/2001 as the result of massive head trauma due to a car crash caused by a drunk driver. "When will I ever feel like I can be "normal" again? I have three sons and yet I miss my daughter so much...my only daughter! I feel I am somehow not appreciative enough for them. The fact that I have 4 beautiful granddaughters, one of whom is Stephanie's child, should also make me happy, I guess. I find though, even when I have a good day I am always missing my daughter and I feel that no one understands this."

lost her 19yr old son, Colt, on 6/25/2004 as the result of a car crash caused by a drunk driver. "My 19yr old son, Colt and his best friend got in a car with a 43yr old man that had been drinking. My son didn't know the driver had been drinking. To make matters worse, the driver put his seatbelt on but didn't make sure the boys had theirs on. He chose to drive 30miles over the speed limit and hit a family friend and killed her husband in the other car. It has been very hard on both families. My son, Colt, was my only child and I just can't get over it. I miss my wonderful son. He was the light of my life. I really have no reason to live but would love to find a reason. Please, if you have any ideas or have gone through this, e-mail me. I would love to hear how you are coping."

lost her 23yr old son, Patrick, on 1/23/2006 as the result of a car crash caused by a drunk driver. "Patrick was a passenger in a drunk driving accident. One of his good friends was the driver. He was 23yrs old and was loved so much by so many. Not only was he my son, but he was my buddy. He still lived at home and was working on his business degree plus being a personal trainer. Is there anyone out there that can help me? I am struggling badly. Thank you."

lost her 24yr old daughter, Sarah, on 12/8/2005 as the result of a car crash caused by a drunk driver. "My daughter Sarah was 24 at the time of the accident, she was a passenger in the front seat and was the only one who died, the driver and the young lady in the back seat lived. The driver got 90 days and her license suspended for two years. She also got her job back and works at our local Wal-Mart.  My husband and I have had a difficult time coping, as we try not to grieve in front of our other daughter and our grandson when they are here.  Rachel is 23, and cannot talk about her sister or the accident. I have had to bear the brunt of my husband's anger because he will not show it in front of Rachel, but they both have shown their "bad days" to me, so I have no one related to me whom I can turn to on my "bad days" of which I have many. I need to talk to other people who are going through this tragedy with little or no support like I am."

lost her 19yr old son, Trey, on 11/20/2005 as the result of a crash caused by a drunk driver. "Trey was a passenger in a truck with one of his closest friends who had been drinking. His friend was driving 90mph down a narrow country road, lost control and the truck came to rest against 2 trees on the passenger side. Moments later I happened to drive up on the scene. My life has been torn apart. I must be strong for my daughter. Please email me. It helps so much just to talk to people who are feeling the same pain."

lost her 21yr old son, Ryan, on 3/4/2006 as the result of injuries from a car crash caused by a drunk driver. "I lost my son, Ryan, on March 4, 2006. He was 21. His best friend was driving and his fiancé was in the back seat. They were all drinking. He had his seatbelt on but it didn't help. His friend lost control of the car while driving at a high speed. It rolled over on Ryan's side killing him instantly. Ryan & Alicia were to be married on April 22nd of this year. He left behind a 2 1/2yr old daughter. He was a very special young man and he touched many lives. His is missed every day by a lot of people especially his family. This is very fresh for me and I need someone to talk to who understands."

lost her 23yr old son, Jerry, on 8/26/2004 as the result of a car crash caused by a drunk driver while he was a passenger in the car. "It has been 2yrs that my son has been gone and some days it seems as if it has just happened. The driver of the vehicle was drunk and driving at a speed of 80mph and received 60 days in the county jail and 2yrs probation. My son, Jerry, was 23 at the time and in his last semester at the University of Illinois. We had a very close relationship and I am forever changed--our whole family is forever changed. I struggle with forgiveness and sometimes it feel like poison to my spirit. I need a friend that can understand!"
